Dollar Dog Takes The Bus!
Chetco Federal Credit Union, located on the Southern Oregon Coast, is home to 900 members of the Dollar Dog Kids Club. These young people now eagerly gaze out their windows, anticipating an extraordinary vehicle will drive by with their favorite friend flying on its sides.
CFCU has found a new way to make more people aware of their youth savings program. The staff in the marketing department arranged to have Dollar Dog painted on two mini busses. Though this project is not quite finished, the name of Dollar Dog and a few finishing touches are yet to be added, the leaders of the credit union felt this was a terrific opportunity to reach more people with the savings message in a unique way. Seeing a bus drive by with Dollar Dog on the sides is more dynamic than a poster hung at the school, or a letter sent home with the students. A local resident airbrush-painted the mini buses using art supplied by Marketing Partners.
Dollar Dog is busy at CFCU, there are currently four elementary school branches operating in their chartered area with three more in the planning stages. There are frequent Dollar Dog events, so many that the credit union had to order a second costume so Dollar Dog could attend them all. Adam VanCleave, Youth Operations Coordinator, says he has no favorite event, however, each holds its own special place. From the Kindergarten Round-up to the Stuff-the-Bus event, to the Curry County Home Show – they all help promote the invaluable Dollar Dog children’s saving’s message.
