Dollar Dog and Choice One FCU:
An Interview With Jill Koptcho
MP: How long have you had Dollar Dog at your Credit Union?
Jill: Since 2005
MP: How do you promote the program to your members?
Jill: On the website, in brochures, newsletters, inserts, events, in the branches, with a “Dollar Dog Club House.” Choice One has dedicated space within the branch to a kid’s area that includes special small-sized furnishings. The wall has been painted with a particular surface that encourages them to use write-on/wipe-off markers so these young members can express their artistic talents while visiting the credit union with their parents. The warm, welcoming area includes activities for the young artists, such as coloring books and hands-on activities.
Jill: Dollar Dog’s paw prints on the floor lead the way from the door of the credit union to this special clubhouse. Children have some fun while their parents take care of their transactions. The entire program is branded with the fun character that all the children recognize, Dollar Dog.
MP: Do you use a Dollar Dog costume? How do you incorporate the costumed mascot into your Dollar Dog promotions?
Jill: The attached picture shows Dollar Dog visiting the local arena football team and their mascot, Pete. Dollar Dog likes to take in the sports action of the Scranton Pioneers with his friends from Choice One.
