The Lone Star State Finds A Friend In Dollar Dog

Howdy y’all! It’s Dollar Dog here, with a special report from North East Texas Credit Union. The CU recently held a very important safety event at its five branches, and I was glad to be a part of it.

During the event, which took place on a different day in each credit union branch, local law enforcement fingerprinted, photographed and collected DNA from local children. The services were provided as part of a safety program that helps parents and law enforcement officials track children if they go missing. The event was totally free – we even got a free lunch (yum)!

One of my friends at North East Texas Credit Union is fingerprinted as part of the CU’s safety event.

I also met a few new friends at the safety event!

To let all of our younger friends know about the safety event, the credit union sent postcards listing the details to all Dollar Dog members. The CU also placed flyers around town. Since the event was held at lunchtime, parents could leave work, pick up their kids and take them to the branch closest to them to participate. If the children’s parents couldn’t pick them up, local day cares bussed the children in to the credit union. About 450 to 500 kids showed up – in fact, one branch had 130 kids!

Reporters attended the event to take pictures, and they even published a release in the local paper. It was so exciting to be in the news! Attending the event was also a great way for me to spread the word about the Dollar Dog Kids Club® and the importance of saving.

The large crowd for the safety event proves it was a huge success!

By the way, the average Dollar Dog Kids Club account balance at North East Texas Credit Union is $100. That number is so high because the credit union visits schools every month to take deposits from the children.

Once they join the Kids Club at North East Texas CU, members receive special deposit envelopes and get a chance to meet me in person. Then, every time the kids deposit money, they get a free prize, such as a pencil, silly putty or other small goodie. The prizes make saving more fun.

As a result of bringing the Kids Club to schools, the teachers have been asking North East Texas CU about their loans, CDs, checking and other products. This is good news, because the more members the CU has, the better funded the credit union will be – which means more fun opportunities for me and my Kids Club pals!
