Dollar Dog helps the Humane Society of Stark County, Ohio
There are a lot of pet lovers within Community One Credit Union’s membership! To help out the local Stark County Humane Society, the credit union asked for members’ help in July and August by collecting donations for items the shelter uses every day. The credit union also accepted cash donations for the shelter.
Drop-off boxes were located in each branch office for members to donate new and unopened pet supplies. Some of the items the Humane Society needed included kitty litter, pet food, toilet paper, pet shampoo, dish soap, brooms, dust pans, scrub brushes and other supplies.
Dollar Dog Pitches In
Dollar Dog also has a lot of friends at the Humane Society! To help out, the Dollar Dog Kids Club™ supported the 2nd Annual Scavenger Hunt at Community One.
Here are details about the event, taken from Community One Credit Union’s newsletter:
This year our focus is on helping Dollar Dog’s friends at the Stark County Humane Society. Don’t miss out on this fun event. Make your $5 deposit, pick up the rules and list of items at either office location, then grab a bag and get started. The hunt continues through August 31st, and all bags must be labeled and returned by that date. Collect your items and earn points. The more points you have, the better your chance of winning. There will be two lucky winners that will receive Toys ‘R’ Us Gift Cards. All items collected become property of Community One Credit Union and appropriate items will be donated to the Humane Society. SAVE, LEARN & HAVE FUN! This is a great family activity.
Pet Adoption Day
Members were also asked to mark their calendars for a special Pet Adoption Day on Wednesday, July 31. During this special day, representatives from the Humane Society were on hand to talk with members and their families about adopting a pet. The representatives also answered questions about the Humane Society and provided information about volunteering opportunities at the shelter. In addition, the Society brought along a few of the friendly, furry pets for members and their children to meet.
These events were a great way for kids to learn about “giving back” to the community and were also activities in which the entire family could participate. Dollar Dog can help you do the same at your credit union!
